Attached is a Masonic snuff box owned by Robert Craig in the 19th century. Just look at the scroll art that is Guild taught in origins back to Scotland with the 1st Grand Masters of Masonry! What does it mean? Is it Masonic? Look at this art on Craig’s box and look at Annies identical style of Masonic Scroll Art that speaks for itself….Craigs are Ulter Scottish Mason from Boston area, who are married with Ben Franklins family. Please read about the Craig’s in my document the Webb Horn on this site! Craig is also a father of the US Marine Corps. The “DO Not Tread On ME” Rattle Snake flag on this site was kept by the Craig’s. Only one of two surviving authentic, 18th century rattlesnake flags in US history. Carried by the Flag Bearer, who was one of the Craig’s from Greenburg PA. Who’s family preserved “Proctor Militia Flag”! The art on the back of the snuff box is much like Gustave Youngs work.
Pictured above is a spectacular/rare 19th century Masonic snuff box. It has silver or nickel silver six-sided panels affixed to top and bottom of a wood box, by gold nails. The bottom (6 o’clock ) stud does rotate to 12 o’clock, thus exposing an double circular opening for the fingers. Superbly hand-engraved with the Square and Compasses, the Sun and the Moon, a handshake and it is engraved with the name of its owner “Robert Craig”. The reverse has a finely detailed, comical scene of 3 men in early morning hours (rooster in the window) enjoying too much of the “O Willie brew’d a peck o’ maut…” It measures 3 inches by 3 inches and is 1/2 inch thick.
A special “Thanks” to Brother Erik for permitting us to post the pictures and text of his beautiful snuff box. This snuff box is currently for sale and you can contact Erik on eBay under his User ID: “elnor57″ for purchasing information. Specifically with royal arms with lions. Often seen on the tail areas and the design I have seen on original drawing that date bact to the 11th century. Note: I have to recover an image of the Lord Sinclair’s or Roslyn, burial stone. This has the lion with the odd scroll seen with the green arrows pointing at it!
